Oh Joni--We are so sorry that you have to go through this. We know something about these unexpected trips to the hospital and the devastation of finding yourself back in those all-too-familiar rooms. We love you and pray for your healing. Eddie is just now, six years later, been given permission to go off of his lukemia meds. We pray that you too will have stories to tell of the Lord's restoration. Ed and Judy 5/28/2006 8:10 AM | Ed and Judy

Welcome home, Dave & Joni! Praise God for the white cell increase!!!! Love you so guys - so much! We are here for you - whatever you need. Joni, Brent emailed a letter to me for you. I had planned to bring it to home group last week. I am debating whether to mail it or "hand deliver" it the next time I see you... Jim & I are leaving for our trip this Wed. We'll be gone 10 days. PLEASE try to behave yourself while we are gone! (Dave, that goes for you, too!) Dave, it was AWESOME to see you back "home" at church - although terribly incomplete without your Joni! Hi Joni, Just wanted to let you know that the Dailey's are praying for you. Dave has been such a blessing in my life. I appreciate so much his witness at work. I am sure that he might not agree, but I hope to be the kind of encourager at work that he is. Matt also has been a blessing in my life. He gave up his bed for me and slept on the couch when he was still in Waco. You may not remember, but you also were a blessing to Natalie and I one evening at Vic and Laura Sosa's house. Natalie and I arrived late along with our 4 month old. You held Zane for us while we took time to eat. Simple acts of service are often the greatest blessing. Thank you for being a blessing. I pray that all the prayers offered up for you and Dave are a "good return" on your investment in the Kingdom of God. In the love of Jesus, Scott Dailey 6/6/2006 7:38 AM | Scott Dailey

Joni & Dave, I'm new to this blogging-thing, but I've read and re-read your book, "Bring 'Em Back Alive", and came to your web site and learned of Joni's illness. I'm so sorry you both are going through this struggle. Sometimes a person doesn't know the right words to say in times like these, but I can pray..... " Dear Lord, I lift up my brother and sister to You. Thank You for the good days that Joni has. Lord, please give them both strength as they go through this together. Learning to TRUST You in ALL things is hard at times. Nevertheless, we know our life is in Your hands. You love us beyond measure and have a plan and purpose for our life - one that will bring glory to You. Father, I pray that Joni & Dave will continue to bring glory and honor to Your name for years to come. I pray that You give them Your peace that passes all understanding while You bring Joni to total healing. In Jesus' precious name, Amen." Thank you, Dave, for your God-inspired book! You have hit the nail on the head with addressing the wounds afflivted to the lambs in the church. I can't begin to tell you how your book has spoke to my heart. Thank You! God Bless you both! In Jesus' love, one lamb- karen 6/14/2006 7:21 PM | Karen Wilfong

Dear Joni & Dave, Thank you for sharing your journey through this terrible storm. It's so evident to me (an out of touch old friend) that God is doing a deep work in your hearts. I find myself really wishing we could spend time together like we used to those many years ago. You two were always so refreshingly real and fun. We understand some of what you are experiencing because of Eddie's bout with lymphoma...I know at times we felt so exposed (and we just wanted to shut the world out!) - because everyone is watching and waiting. Your courage amazes and blesses me. Not only the way you are dealing with this disease, but that you willingly opened the door to your hearts and have let us share your feelings. Bless you both - know that we have been and will continue to uphold you before the Throne of Grace. We are thankful you have so much support from friends and family. Hopefully, we might get to Dallas in the next year - we would love to see you then. Love Judy (and Eddie too) 6/15/2006 1:03 PM | Judy Underwood

I found your blog....woowhoo! Well maybe not the first try, but persistence does pay off. Although I will not be there with you physically today, my heart and prayers are with you. I hope this treatment session goes well. It is just one more step to a complete recovery and victory over this disease. You brought light to some of the darkest days of my life, so I am in your corner and here for you. I love you, dear friend, and tell his "grumpiness", I love him too. Father God, Whenever Joni and Dave find themselves in the "storm" of this disease and life in general, when it seems dark and fearful and they become disoriented, draw them to the "eye" of the storm, where you wait in the quiet to restore them. Lord with you, we can overcome the world and your hand alone can quiet the storms of our life. Your love is boundless, your power is mighty, and your peace is perfect. Continue to bless and heal Joni. Bless the ministry that this disease has provided Joni and Dave, in the name of Jesus, Amen. Grace and peace, Pam 6/29/2006 6:02 AM | Pam

Hi Joni--The only way last night could have been better was if you were with us. Catching up with Dave, seeing pictures of the family, and remembering how good friendship can be on a beautiful SoCal evening. We are looking forward to the day we will gather together as four again! The only upside of cancer is the deepening relationships with the Lord and others. Together, we are learning to trust Him and dear friends with...us. So proud of you and Dave for sharing the journey in ways that encourage us. Remember, the battle is only one day at a time. This first week of school has been a pretty smooth start, and I am hoping that has been your experience as well. In part because of your situation, I am taking more things to God, with a little more purpose and a little more regularity. It has given me a greater sense of peace and contentment. He is so faithful to hear and answer. Funny isn't it, we struggle to relinquish power over our own lives, power we never really had, and when we give it all over to God, we cease to struggle. I am praying that your struggles will diminish, if not cease. May you continue to experience joy and peace knowing that you are loved and prayed over by so many. Pam 8/23/2006 11:03 PM | pam

Hi Joni! Please know that Paul and I are keeping you and Dave in our prayers. Let us know if there is ANYTHING that we can do to help. We pray that you will be strongly encouraged by the upcoming end of your chemo treatments-surely some form of celebration should be in order :) 9/17/2006 5:22 PM | Lisa Stehfest

Hi Joni--I go into surgery this morning. Your courage and trust in the Lord puts this knee replacement in perspective. No chemo, no weird drugs, no hair falling out, no cancer this time. I can do this. Thanks for being strong for a lot of people, including me. Ed and Judy 10/6/2006 6:53 AM | Ed and Judy Underwood

As i have read sharing your Journey, It has touch me. I feel so brand new, and so much closer to God because of your encouragement, your strength, your patience, your willingness to let go and just trust God. I came to encourage you in your storm, but you have encouraged me. As i stumbled on your page, i was looking for something to write about my journey through a course i'm taking in school, but your story has woke me up, if this was cheryl instead of joni, could i be so over whelmingly inspiring. I know that God has a reason for your suffing and i know your at peace in all of this, no matter what, your reward is in heaven, not here. I love you both and God gave me an intercessory pray life, I'm going to remember you daily, and i pray now for increase over you life, and over your family's life. I can only tell you that by His strips your are already healed, trust God, and know that His's words are true. He is the author and finisher of you faith. His name is Jesus. Look beyond the walls of jerico and see the promise land, see his Victoryyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!! you promise is not shut up, your faith will move the wall and bring it down. In Jesus name. (Joshua 6:1-20)please read, Arise and take your stand, In Jesus Christ, Blow the trumphet make a noise in the enemies camp, and you will see the wall fall, the Lord shall fight your battle for you, make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all you lands. We walk by faith, not by sight, Glory, Praise His Holy Name. I love you both and stay faithful and strong in the Lord Jesus the Christ. 10/8/2006 1:36 PM | Cherylsoul

Hi Joni, Many times it is the simple things that bring joy. This may sound funny to some, but I am praising God for your eyebrows. Not only because it is a sign that the chemo is almost done, but because it brought you a smile. Still praying for you both. Scott 12/7/2006 9:10 AM | Scott Dailey

Hi Joni--I don't know if we didn't cry enough before cancer or we cry too much after cancer. Either way we cry. It is just part of being a personw with cancer. My advice? Don't try to figure it out, just cry. The time will come when you stop crying and will actually miss the emotions and the reality of this time. Ed 12/28/2006 1:24 PM | Ed and Judy Underwood

Joni, I meant to stop and say hey and hug your neck yesterday but you got away from me before I could grab a minute! As I looked out and saw you from my praise team perch, I caught a catch in my throat. You looked beautiful! Thank you for every bit of courage you have displayed from the beginning! 1/29/2007 8:23 AM | Noelle Massey
